Why do AIIMS Delhi students get a very short percentage in an MBBS even though they are intelligent?

AS
Abhishek Singhania Posted On : October 13th, 2021
Studies MBBS from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi (2022)

Your intelligence is determined by your hard work. Even if you have an IQ of 200 and do not work hard, you can still fail MBBS. Medicine, in general, is a test of determination, patience, and perseverance rather than intelligence.

Overall it all depends on you, if you don’t study, your IQ won’t help you pass your exams.

How is the life of an MBBS student at AIIMS Delhi?

RM
Riya Mukherjee Posted On : May 6th, 2022
studies at All India Institute of Medical Sciences

Life at AIIMS Delhi is a mix of academics, extracurricular and various events. The campus experience is enviable.

  • On your very first day, you will be greeted by a huge group of seniors. The first interaction usually turns out to be a mix of spicy questions and tasks. You may dread it at first but later you will start to enjoy it. The seniors throw a blasting freshers party after one month. These parties are quite enjoyable, you can dance your heart out till 4 in the morning. The best part of this party is it officially ends the interaction period. You can call your seniors by their name after it.
  • Before you know it, the PULSE fever sets in. The campus will start buzzing with various activities. PULSE is the biggest medical cultural festival in entire south-east Asia.
  • After PULSE, you will get busy preparing for the first-semester examination. You will find people roaming around the campus with books and running to their seniors to get notes.
  • In December, AIIMS organizes the ‘Shimla trip’. It is a longstanding tradition. You will get to spend a week in Simla and celebrate the end of your semester. After the vacation, there will be a couple of week-long winter vacation. You will finally get to go home.
  • January will bring many surprises. Student’s Union Election is the biggest one of them. In January there are an inter-semester cricket tournament and Lohri as well.
  • During February and March, there are election results, the Kite flying celebration of Makarsankranti, Saraswati Puja, and the much-awaited Holi celebration.
  • In April, AIIMS celebrates INFET, the intra-college annual fest. In which you and your classmates will participate. If you have talents, it’s the perfect time to showcase them.
  • The final semester will be right around the corner, after INFET. Students spend most of this time in the library rather than in the hostel. After the examination, there will be a month-long summer vacation.

For first year students, this is what life looks like at AIIMS, Delhi.

What is the first year MBBS student age in AIIMS Delhi?

RS
Rajashree Sengupta Posted On : September 22nd, 2021
MBBS from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi

Medical Council of India (MCI) has guidelines that the minimum age of a student must be 17 years as of 31st December of the admission year.

For example, if you have taken admission in 2021, then you must be 17 years old before 31st December 2021.

The highest age limit is similarly 25 years old. Of course, there are age relaxations on the upper limit based on the reservation system. But most of the students would be in the age range of 17-19 years old.

I would say that roughly 30% - 40% of the students are 17 years old and the rest are 18, 19, or 20 years old. The majority of the students are either fresh out of school or 1-year drop students.

Can someone give me a priority order for these MBBS colleges Seth Gs , Grant, KGMU, BHU, CMC Vellore, AIIMS (except Delhi)?

NM
Nikhil Mishra Posted On : November 18th, 2022
M.B.B.S. from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi (Graduated 2017)

Every college is good in one or the other aspects. Its location, faculty, and infrastructure are the main factors that determine a college's priority. The following list contains the colleges in order of priority based on their pros and cons.

Pros:

  • BHU: No requirement to sign a bond

  • Seth GS: Located in Mumbai with the best academic structure

  • KGMU Lucknow: The location and academic structure are perfect.

  • Other AIIMS: No need to sign any bond and the fee structure is affordable. AIIMS tag can help you with USMLE purposes.

Cons:

  • BHU: Located in Varanasi, it lacks the facilities of metropolitan cities like Delhi and Mumbai

  • Seth GS: Mumbai is expensive and a bond of 1 year needs to be signed

  • CMC Vellore: You will have to learn Tamil as it is located South India. The fee structure is pretty expensive.

  • Other AIIMS: They are usually not located in a good location except for Bhopal and Bhubaneswar.

The preferred order as per the pros and cons can be - BHU> AIIMS> KGMU> Grant> Seth GS> CMC Vellore

One college can be good for you but bad for others. This is because your own needs determine which college is best for you. So choose wisely.

ST
Sagnik Talukdar Posted On : November 16th, 2022
M.B.B.S. at Armed Forces Medical College, Pune (2018-present)

AIIMS Raipur is already a leading figure in the field of medical education. This is a result of its top-notch infrastructure and elaborate teaching methods. It satisfies modern-day demands and your life will completely change if you opt for this college to pursue an MBBS. I have enumerated some points to convince you of the same:

  • You will be spending your first year at the Kabir Nagar Campus. This campus has lush green surroundings with a very clean environment. You will love your time here.

  • The hostel facilities are remarkable. Boys get a 2BHK flat with 3 boys in a flat whereas girls get a 3 BHK flat with 5 girls in a flat.

  • The college building comprises 3 floors with all the facilities you need to become a good medical student.

  • The hygiene here is notable.

  • AIIMS offers excellent sports facilities like an indoor badminton court, volleyball (outdoor) basketball, 3–4 tables for table tennis, a football/cricket ground, and a mat for kabaddi.

  • The annual fest Oriana is the cherry on top. You will have a once-in-a-lifetime experience here.

So yes, your life will definitely change for the better if you opt for this college.

Is the RGUHS correction of the 2nd year MBBS strict or liberal?

SB
Sandiya Banerjee Posted On : March 5th, 2022
MBBS from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (2019)

I have a few friends from RGUHS. According to them, corrections are neither too strict nor too liberal. So, how much you score will depend on your performance and luck. Sometimes students get unexpected marks, but those are isolated events. If you have performed well in the examinations and included a few diagrams and flowcharts then you don’t need to worry about the marks.
