How is NIT Rourkela for an M.Tech?
One of my friends studied at NIT Rourkela. According to him, M.Tech here is taught well enough for students willing to opt for research and further studies. The placements of M.Tech are average and sometimes students even have to opt for pool or off campussing.
- The faculty members are highly qualified and have 20-25 years of educational experience.
- Lab facilities are good and have all the updated machinery.
- CSE department has a comparatively better placements than other departments.
- A 75% attendance is a must.
- In your 2nd year you need to do projects in college only, so you will get free time for the preparation of competitive exams. although you have to show progress in project work at that time to your guide.
- This allowance is also depending upon the guide and your department.
- If you are inclined towards doing a Ph.D after M.Tech and research is your passion, then NIT Rourkela is the best option.
- You can publish your research as a journal paper. Publishing a paper will get you a chance of doing Ph.D in prestigious IITs.
- If you are looking for placements then you will be disappointed.

How is hostel life in NIT Rourkela?
NIT Rourkela has 11 hostels, out of which 7 hostels are for boys students, 2 girls hostels and the remaining 2 are for married students.
The administration is very strict and hostel timings can become an issue for girls. Apart from this, you will be given 4 hours to use the Gym. Other than that, there are indoor sports like Badminton and table tennis courts in every hostel.
You will be given access to DC++, a software where you can find everything from videos, PDFs, assignments, tutorials and many other things. Overall, NIT Rourkela Hostels are quite good as they are well maintained and provide all the necessary facilities.
Which is better, CSE at NIT Rourkela or CSE at MNIT Jaipur? Why?
MNIT Jaipur has always been in the lead in MHRD ranking and ahead of NIT Rourkela. I believe you are asking for a DASA candidate, because of its better connectivity to the Gulf countries, I would strongly recommend Jaipur.
One of MNIT Jaipur’s most appealing areas is how close it is to the main city but it is also not in a very overcrowded section of the city. Everything is accessible on foot. Mess food isn't that good, but it isn't awful again. The weather is nice but it is a little hot but very stable in April otherwise.

However, it is ultimately up to the person how many they apply and study and use the information in the work interviews and career while also developing internally and externally into a full individual as long as 2 institutions stand similar and you receive the approval offer from both.

How is life of a student in NIT Rourkela?
Life at NIT Rourkela is really good. They have a huge campus which is green and clean which provides a healthy educational environment. Unlike many other institutions, NIT Rourkela provides you with much flexibility considering hostel timings. The curfew time for students is around 11 PM. You have night canteens in every hostel, readily available to cater till 2 in the morning.
Hostels are clean and initially double seated but by final year students get single occupancy rooms. The whole campus is wifi enabled. The mess food is healthy and hygienic. The student crow is diverse thus you get to learn about other cultures as well.
Extracurricular activities such as swimming, gym, basketball, table tennis, volleyball, cricket, etc. are accessed by students. You have many clubs to take part in and enhance your skills. Fests are held throughout the year.
Lastly there are also some things you need to get adjusted to like the climate, which is extreme. The mess food will take time to get used to, especially if you are an outstation student. Rules are strictly followed and maintaining a 75% attendance is a must, skipping which you will not be allowed to sit for the exam.
Overall life at NIT Rourkela is energetic where you will learn many new things and by the end you will transform into a well adjusted individual.
Who are the most talented students of NIT, Rourkela?
I have a few friends from NIT, Rourkela, according to them, one of the most talented students is Susnata Roy (Batch of 2010-14). She was the institute topper for her batch. Susnata complete an internship at Microsoft and was offered a PPO. She got a job at Google. In the second year itself, she got the prestigious IAS internship. She is also known for her coding skills.
Which is better for CSE, NIT Rourkela or MNNIT?
MNNIT Allahabad is an excellent institution. It was the country's first college to offer a B. Tech. — CSE program.
Placements: In terms of placements, NIT Allahabad outperforms all other NITs, with this year's average of 17 LPA. Almost every major company that visits IITs visits MNNIT Allahabad on a regular basis.

MNNIT does not have a lot to brag about in terms of faculty, research, and MS opportunities. There are a few faculty members in the CSE department who are exceptionally good and eager to assist with research, while others are simply present. Collaboration with foreign universities for MS/Ph.D. is almost nil.
MNNIT is considered among the top 4 NITs in the country. Thus MNNIT will definitely be a better choice than NIT Rourkela.

- NIT Rourkela’s ranking is higher than MNNIT Allahabad because NIT is growing at a fast pace. After the director of NIT changed to Dr. Sunil Sarangi, the infrastructure and research have seen positive changes. MNNIT has degraded because of its bad administration.
