Which one is better: IT in IIIT Allahabad or CSE in BITS Goa?
The IT degree at IIIT Allahabad is considered one of the best in India, and it is aligned with the CSE curriculum from the best IITs and NITs in India. The professors are a mixed bag, with some highly qualified, doing good research, and teaching well, while some may be uninteresting. However, with some self-motivation, the academic landscape is quite good.
IIIT Allahabad has a great culture for programming, which can help you become a serious developer. The infrastructure is good, the campus is green, and the architecture is impressive, with the added benefit of being centrally air-conditioned.
On the downside, the city life in Allahabad is not great, especially if you come from a metro city. You may experience a cultural shock. The research environment is not exceptional, and there are only a handful of students aspiring to pursue higher education. You will find yourself in a batch of more than 200 students, in which you have to create your own identity. The weather is terrible, with extremely hot summers and cold winters (although some people may like the winters). The sports infrastructure is not the most amazing one.
In summary, here's the verdict:
- If you're interested in research and want to pursue technical education further in your career, BITS Goa may be the right choice for you.
- If you want a great Indian IT job after your degree, IIIT Allahabad may be the right choice for you.

Which is better NIT Allahabad CS or BITS GOA CS?
BITS Goa CSE is a better option than NIT Allahabad. It has an excellent infrastructure and offers better placement opportunities. Recent highlights of BITS Goa placement show the average package to be around INR 15-16 LPA. Microsoft, Apple, Google, Amazon, Flipkart, Adobe, etc. recruit from the campus.
How many marks should one get to have access to CSE in BITS Goa?
In BITS Goa, admission to the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) program is based on the candidate's performance in the BITSAT exam, which is conducted by the institute. I have a friend at BITS Goa and he told me about some of the hangout places near campus.
Zuari Lake is located within a 10-minute walk from the campus. Although this lake is private property, nobody will stop you from going in. There are foods and snacks available around the lake site. You can hang out in this location in the evening.
Other than that students also hang out at Bogmalo and on the Tennis court. On the campus, there are various food joints like Mongi, ice, and spice. The students generally hang out and spend time in these locations. Debates and group discussions also take place in these locations. In hectic schedules, the students generally have meetings on the balconies of the A and C wings.
A small children’s park is there on the campus which is also a hangout place for college students.
Is NIT Suratkal better than BITS Goa?
When it comes to choosing between two good institutes, it can be a tough decision to make. However, there are certain factors that you need to consider in order to make an informed decision.

- Alumni strength: Pilani has a much older and more established campus, which means it has a larger alumni network in key positions in the government and private sectors. Goa, being a newer campus, has had a head start of only 19 years compared to Pilani's 59 years.
- Student quality: Pilani has slightly smarter students than Goa, based on the difference in cutoffs between CSE + core branches in Pilani and Goa. The average difference is around 25, and for MSc branches, it's about 15-20. This points to the fact that Pilani folks are slightly smarter and more hardworking than Goa students, at least before joining the college.
- Placements: BITS Pilani has an excellent placement record, with a 31.5% increase in average salary and a 35% increase in the highest salary over the previous year. The highest salary was INR 60.75 LPA, and the average salary was INR 30.7 LPA, with 109 recruiters participating in the placement drive. Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Visa, Adobe, and Cisco are among the top recruiters. While BITS Goa also has a consistently good placement record, it is slightly behind BITS Pilani in terms of average and highest salaries.
- Faculty: BITS Pilani has a larger and more established campus with highly qualified and experienced faculty, but BITS Goa also has talented and experienced faculty.

According to the placement reports of BITS Goa, the average annual package for the B.E. Computer Science and M.Sc. Computer Science students was around 13-15 lakhs per annum for the year 2021. You can expect a huge list of companies to come to your campus, including top names such as Goldman Sachs, Samsung, Apple, and Google.
It's worth noting that salary should not be the only factor considered when evaluating job opportunities; factors like work-life balance, company culture, and growth potential can be equally important.
How are the BITS GOA chemical placements?
BITS Goa placements are good for Chemical Engineering. During recent placement drive, students of Chemical received the highest CTC of around INR 25 LPA. While the lowest CTC offered was INR 10 LPA. The placement average for the branch is around 99%. Schlumberger, ExxonMobil, Reliance, Shell, etc. were some of the major recruiters that take part in the placement drive.
What food you get in BITS Goa mess?
Well, according to some of my close friends studying at BITS Goa, they have a very well-managed mess. Here are some facts about it that might provide you with the basic information.
- The mess is really well maintained and hygienic and the food tastes good and is always well cooked.
- The non-vegetarians get to eat non-veg three times a week and the menu is:-
- Monday- Egg/Chicken Biryani.
- Wednesday- Chicken Curry.
- Friday- Egg curry/ Bhurji.
- Special lunch/dinner is arranged during any festival and on every Sunday.
Several options are provided to the students to eat, be it breakfast, lunch, or dinner. My friends mentioned the list of dishes which includes -
- Breakfast - (Timing for Breakfast is 7:15 AM - 9:30 AM) - Toast-Bread, Normal Bread, Omelette, cornflakes, Poha, Pav Bhaji, Uttapam, Mendu Vada, Aloo Paratha, Paneer Paratha, etc.
- Lunch - (12 noon to 2:30 PM) - Jeera rice, fried rice or biryani rice with Dal, Pickle, Salad, Rasam, Curd, Papad, Rajma, Mixed vegetable, Ice Tea, Lassi, Jalebi, Kheer, etc.
- Dinner - (7:30 pm to 9:30 pm) - Rice with dal, rasam and roti, Curd, Vegetable curry, Kachori, Samosa, Fried rice, and Manchurian.
The facility of night canteen is also available which goes from 11 pm to 2 am. The food is offered at a very reasonable rate.
There are also many food outlets like Amul stall- for ice creams, CCD- for the best coffee experience, Red chilies- Special for Chinese food, Foodking and ice, and spice- famous for all its fast foods and Gajalaxmi- chicken and egg dishes are special here.
Is it worth taking a loan for ECE at BITS Goa or I should go for EEE at NIT Jalandhar?
There is no point in taking a loan for either of these colleges. NIT Jalandhar is an institute of national importance and the degree will almost be the same if not better than the one at BITS Goa.
If you are concerned about placements, then choosing BITS Goa over NIT Jalandhar might be the best option. If you’re sure that the better placements at BITS Goa will help you fend off the loans then go ahead.
It is also important to note that the EEE branch at NIT Jalandhar is more popular and has pretty good placements in itself so taking a loan is not worth it. Go for EEE at NIT Jalandhar.
