IIT Tirupati, an autonomous engineering and technology education institute that gives a 4-year Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech) Civil Engineering program. Admission to the B. Tech program is through the Joint entrance examination (IIT-JEE-Advanced). It was ranked 25 for Engineering by JEE cutoff 2019.

NIT Calicut is a public technical university ranked 23rd for B. Tech and is one among the National Institutes of Technology campuses. The Institute offers a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) Master of Technology (M. Tech), and Ph.D. Courses in various specializations for Mechanical Engineering.

Eligibility:

IIT Tirupati:

• 10+2 or Diploma (10+3) qualified students from a recognized board, with a minimum of 75% with Physics, Chemistry, and Math.

• Students applying must qualify for JEE Advanced.

NIT Calicut:

• 10+2 passed from a recognized board, with Physics and Maths as main subjects.

• Students applying must qualify for JEE Main and Advance.

IIT Tirupati:

• As of the 2019 stats, 70 out of 90 registered students were placed in reputed companies with an average package of 9.18 LPA and the highest packages offered was 22 LPA

• For the Civil department, the average package was 5.5 LPA.

NIT Calicut:

• 647 students from the UG, PG, got successfully placed for various job profiles with the highest package of INR. 49.75 LPA and the average CTC offered was INR. 11.58 LPA.

NIT Calicut:

The institute offers graduate, postgraduate, and doctorate programs in chemical engineering. The admission to BTech and MTech in Chemical Engineering is through JEE Mains and GATE.

A wide range of facilities is provided by the institute that includes a library, sports complex, laboratories, hostels, wi-fi campus, gym.

Both the institutes have gained a good reputation owing to their high standards of education and qualified faculty. Moreover, scholarships are also offered by the institutes as financial assistance to the students.

Among the ones mentioned, DTU should be your first choice for pursuing CS. Many reasons support DTU over others. First of all, the coding culture at DTU is unparalleled. One of the underpinning aspects in this context is the platform of DSECoders. It is a perfect platform to get acquainted with coding within DTU campus. Besides, eminent technical societies like IEEE, ASME including others also conduct coding classes and competitions for students. Secondly, the institute has a plethora of societies that provide great impetus to coders. Thirdly, the campus location of DTU provides a conducive exposure and opportunity for students. Delhi-NCR is a hub of great IT companies and this provides the students with ample job opportunities. Furthermore, the placement scenario at DTU is quite impressive. 

Although IIIT Delhi, IIIT Allahabad, and NIT Calicut have a reputed “IIT” and “IIIT” tag, they suffer from their own cons. Their campuses are quite small and do not conduct ample extracurricular activities. Besides, the alumni base of IIITs is quite small as compared to DTU. Though they do provide an impressive coding culture, DTU still stands taller. NIT Calicut, on the other hand, has an outdated curriculum and the hostel facilities are dilapidated. Thus, considering all the facades, DTU undoubtedly stands taller as compared to the other colleges mentioned in the question. Although IIIT Delhi and DTU might seem at par with each other, DTU is still better considering the vast alumni base it has produced over the years.

Both universities have their own advantages as well as drawbacks.

NIT Calicut is ranked 3rd in the Architecture Category by the NIRF Rankings 2019. B.Arch. from NIT Calicut costs INR 2.59 lakh. The selection of the program is based on JEE Main rankings. The institute has well-qualified faculties and provides good infrastructure. The department of Architecture at NIT Calicut has 5 laboratories. The placements statistics of 2019 reveals a total of 3 students from the B.Arch program got placement offers out of the 9 students who registered. The average salary offered was 9.08 LPA, whereas the maximum salary offered was 18.24 LPA.

On the other hand, B.Arch. from Lovely Professional University, Punjab costs a total of INR 6.86 lakh. There are ample scholarship opportunities that students can opt for. The scholarships are given based on the LPUNEST (National Entrance and Scholarship test) ranks. The college has good infrastructure and experienced faculty members for Architecture. The students get placements based on their internships. Almost 95% of the students get their internships in the second year of the program. The major recruiters at LPU are Microsoft, Infosys, Amazon India, IBM, Samsung, ICICI Bank, Hindustan Unilever Limited Bosch, etc. The average salary package at LPU is 2 LPA and the highest is 12 LPA.

In a nutshell, both the universities offer great exposure, good placements and provide quality education. Regarding a better choice among the two, LPU seems to have comparatively more satisfactory review from students than NITC.

Hostels in NIT C for the PG students are not good. Students are allotted to the Professor's Apartment in their first tear. 

• The apartment consists of a flat which has 3 rooms, kitchen and 1 hall i.e. equivalent to a 3 BHK flat. But the number of students in each flat depends on the number of rooms each flat possesses. 
• Along with that, some students get the golden opportunity of residing in halls or even in the kitchens. 
• The toilets according to the number of students are always less and then there is always a queue outside the bathroom gate in the morning. There are a total of 14 to 16 students per flat. 
• The journey from apartments to college is like going on a trek. Now they have started a bus service.

This was the scenario of the first year and for the second year students, the scenario is a bit different. The second-year students are mostly accommodated in the MBA hostels which have toilets attached with the rooms but are far from the previous apartments where you were living in the first year. 

Wi-Fi is available on the campus and works well for the new buildings and hostels. At the time of joining they will tell you that the new hostels are under construction and will be ready to move soon. 

Please take a note that if possible go for the kitchen as that will be the only single room accommodation available for you as a PG student in NIT Calicut.
