Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) declared the withdrawal of the circular on establishing technical hubs allied with a private company named Rnurays Technologies Pvt. Ltd. for engineering colleges.
VTU Registrar A.S. Deshpande on December 21 stated in a circular that the varsity has signed an MoU with M/S Rnurays Technologies Pvt. intended for establishing 'industry hubs' to offer hands-on experience to the students.

The circular was opposed by some of the affiliated colleges expressing doubts about the efficiency of the firm.
He explained the motive was to bring industry experts on campus and to provide industry-oriented assistance including internship opportunities, project work, soft skill training, and placement of students of all streams.
He also mentioned the company proposed a charge of Rs 17,864/- for final year students and the project was supposed to involve 225 affiliated colleges with nearly one lakh student onboard.
Deshpande asked the colleges to submit a report on the action taken on this venture by January 25. On December 31 he clarified that the university has not decided on the tie-up with Rnurays Technologies Pvt.
Vice-Chancellor of VTU revealed to The Hindu, the circular was withdrawn to clear the confusion. He added that the concept of 'hub' was useful, however, the colleges are free to tie up with any firm willing to provide necessary service.
Nappa Uppal, founder, and CEO of Rnurays Technologies expresses his dissatisfaction with the decision made by VTU. He disclosed the preparation taken for recruiting people to set up an industrial hub for 225 colleges and not being confirmed to start working on this project.
