Visva Bharati University is set to hold the final-semester examination in September. The principals of the different departments of the university have been asked to choose the modalities for conducting the tests.
Visva Bharati University will act according to the guidelines issued by the University Grants Commission that state that the final-year examinations should be completed by 30 September.
The authorities have asked the principals to consider the opinions of the heads of departments, faculty and students, and also to find out what course of action was being taken by other central universities.

A statement issued by the university said that it will stick to the 28 August judgement of the Supreme Court, which said that the final-year examinations must be completed by 30 September, according to the UGC guidelines.
In its verdict, the apex court had added a state could approach the UGC to fix another date for the examination, but they were to be completed anyway.
Visva Bharati had been indefinitely closed since 17 August after a mob that was protesting the fencing of the Poush Mela ground damaged the property of the central university.
Later, the university stated that it would resume basic essential activities in the interest of students by starting to work online from homes.
