New Delhi: Amid the increasing cases of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country, the Uttar Pradesh Government has decided to close colleges and universities in the state till January 16, 2021.
Following the announcement, the Uttar Pradesh Universities and their affiliated colleges will remain shut and no further physical classes will be held for students. The statement for the same was made in accordance with the government safety guidelines.
As of now, Uttar Pradesh has recorded over 7,695 fresh positive cases on Sunday, January 09, 2022. Lucknow was found with 1,115 and Noida with 1,149 COVID-positive cases.
After reviewing the data, the state government decided to take strict actions to prevent a further rise in Covid-19 cases. Furthermore, the government decided to close on-campus activities to prevent the rise of cases and ensure the safety of students during the pandemic.
Uttar Pradesh Universities to Resume Teaching-Learning Activities in Online Mode
In line with the decision made by Uttar Pradesh Government, the University of Lucknow released an official notice stating that in view of the current pandemic situation, the university and its affiliated colleges will now resume the teaching-learning activities in online mode.
Following the directions of the Uttar Pradesh Government, the state universities and colleges have asked all students to follow the safety guidelines and necessary protocols to prevent the rise of cases in the state.

While the colleges have been asked to close on-campus activities, the government has asked universities to conduct their examination as per the schedule. The classes for all students will be held in online mode, and no physical classes will be held till further notice.
Uttar Pradesh: Exam to be held as per Schedule
As for the examination, the University of Lucknow has released a notice stating that while colleges will be closed till January 16, 2022, the exams for all students will continue as per the schedule released by the university.
"Though the university campus and affiliated colleges will be closed till January 16, exams scheduled for these days will continue as usual," the university official notice reads.
The university has asked all students, teaching and non-teaching staff to follow the Standard Operating Procedure, SOPs for COVID-19. Additionally, strict health and safety guidelines will be followed by both faculty members and students during the period.
Uttar Pradesh: Schools Closed till Further Notice
Earlier, in the first week of January 2022, the Uttar Pradesh Government had announced the closure of schools in the state till January 16, 2021. Following the decision, the schools will now commence the classes for students of 1st to 12th through online mode.
For children Anganwadis, the classes have been closed for now in compliance with the government protocols. On the other hand, the Anganwadis will still continue the distribution of food and rations.
While referring to the pandemic, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath asked the public not to panic. “Alertness and caution are needed. People should be encouraged to wear masks, take vaccines and practice social distancing. This is the best first aid measure," he said.
As of now, the schools in Uttar Pradesh state are organizing vaccination camps for students of 5 and 18 age groups. During the vaccination process, students are asked to visit the school to get their dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.
