UoH introduces online submission of M.Phil/Ph.D dissertations and theses

The University of Hyderabad (UoH) has announced that it will be introducing online submission of dissertation/theses for those pursuing MPhil or PhD.

On average the duration between submission and award of the degree was earlier six months. This will now be reduced to three months according to the new guidelines. The university issued a press release, according to which more than 20 Ph.D viva voce examinations have been conducted by the University of Hyderabad online via video conferencing.

The university has also shortened the time that is required for the MPhil/Ph.D dissertations/theses. Until now this process followed the submission of hard copies. Earlier these hard copies were further sent to external examiners who took between 2-6 months to provide reports.

The press release stated that this process was followed by viva-voce at the university. To cut short the duration of the evaluation and more importantly to make the whole process online and digitally transferrable, the university has decided to process M.Phil and Ph.D dissertations and theses only in via online mode with effect from June 1, 2020.

According to the new guidelines M.Phil and Ph.D students will be required to upload soft copies of their synopsis/dissertation/theses online and submit them via the e-governance portal of the University, from their own login credentials. The required documents include the copy of course completion certificate and plagiarism report. After the vice-chancellor has appointed the external examiners online, the synopsis will then be sent to them for evaluation and acceptance.
