Universities in Bihar are yet to finish PG admission for the 2020 session, even as the year ends. The deadline at Patna University (PU) for filling PG admission forms was November 30. However, as of yet, the university has not given any information regarding the cut-off or counselling.
This year, PU extended the deadline for filling the application form 4 times because of the pending results of UG students. The varsity admits students in PG courses based on the score in the last qualifying exam instead of an entrance test.

For the current academic year, PU was offering 1600 PG seats in various colleges. Prity Kumari, an MCom aspirant said, “I filled the admission form in September. It’s almost two months but I am yet to see the merit list. The delay in the admission process is killing our time and we might lose the chance of getting admission in other colleges also.”
Officials from the university blamed festivals and assembly elections for a slow admission process, which was already delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The dean of students welfare, NK Jha said that there were around 14000 applications for MA, MSc, and MCom courses. The document verification process for those applications was still going on. As such, the institute is likely to publish the cut-off list after December 20, 2020.

He concluded by saying that the admission process for self-financing PG seats had already started. In addition, the varsity had also published the 1st cut-off list for MBA courses. Around 24 students had qualified for the first round of admission which was scheduled to be held on December 15, 2020.
Meanwhile, Patliputra University (PPU) held a PG entrance test on December 10, 2020. The media in charge, BK Mangalam gave a statement in this regard, “More than 5,000 students have applied for admission in various postgraduate courses. We are likely to publish entrance test results in January,”
