UGC SWAYAM UG And PG Courses: Highlights

University Grants Commission (UGC) has directed institutes to make use of MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) which are now available at SWAYAM- an online education platform of the government.

With the help of SWAYAM, college students can get access to excellent education in their field, and can also seek guidance from well-educated and experienced faculty members of top institutes, such as IITs, IISERs, IISc, and others.

Students can now take part in the courses available on the online education platform and can get academic credits after the completion of the course.

The credits offered to students at the end of the completion of course at SWAYAM will be further used by the institutes in result evaluation. Institutes can now impact over 40 percent of the syllabus of students through the digital learning platform.

The evaluation of courses offered through the digital platform will be done on the basis of marks secured by students in internal assessment. Additionally, marks of semester-end exams and the internal assessment will also be included in the evaluation process.

Internal assessment will include a maximum of 30 percent marks of the students and will be based on discussion forums, quizzes, assignments, sessional examinations, etc. The complete evaluation scheme is expected to be released at the beginning of the course by UGC.
