New Delhi: UGC has released the revised guidelines for awarding National Fellowship for Scheduled Caste Students (NFSC) to MPhil, Ph.D. Students on its official website at ugc.ac.in on January 27, 2022.
As per the revised guidelines released, the UGC will provide fellowship to M.Phil students for a duration of two years and for a five-year duration for Ph.D. students. The revised guidelines to award the fellowship to higher education SC students will be effective from November 25, 2021.
Under the UGC NFSC, SC category is offered with fellowship (financial assistance) to pursue their higher education in MPhil or Ph.D. in Science, Humanities and Social Science domain through any UGC recognized Indian Universities, Institutions, Colleges.
Launched in 2005-06, the scheme helps over 2,000 SC students every year by awarding them with fellowship. Out of total students, 1500 Junior Research Fellows are selected from the humanities, social sciences domain and 500 junior Research Fellows from the science stream
UGC NFSC Fellowship 2021-22: How to Check Revised Guidelines Online?
Candidates who have applied for the National Fellowship for Scheduled Caste Students initiative of UGC can now check the revised guidelines for the same by following the steps mentioned below:
Step 1: Visit the official website of the University Grants Commission (UGC) at ugc.ac.in.
Step 2: From the homepage, click under the notification tab.
Step 3: click on the latest "UGC Notice regarding Revised Guidelines for National Fellowship for Scheduled Caste Students (NFSC)" direct link available.
Step 4: UGC NFSC Revised Guidelines will appear on the screen. Check the details with care and download the same for future use.
Following the notice released, only those Scheduled Caste students who have qualified in National Eligibility Test (NET) Junior Research Fellowship and UGC-Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (UGC-CSIR) NET-JRF joint test) will be selected for the fellowship.
Candidates who have already applied for the UGC NFSC program or wish to apply for the fellowship in the upcoming session are requested to go through the detailed notification release to avoid any last-minute error. For the latest updates on the same, visit the official website of UGC at ugc.ac.in.
