The University Grants Commission (UGC) has directed all the universities and higher educational institutions to conduct special examinations for the National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets.
The decision to hold special examinations for the NCC cadets has been taken by the UGC as the cadets miss their semester exams due to the Republic day training camps every year.
The commission issued a letter to all the university vice-chancellors and directors notifying that as the NCC cadets participate in the preparation camps for the Republic Day camp in November and December, they miss their semester exams.
Further, the UGC suggested all the higher educational institutions to take necessary actions to conduct special exams for the NCC cadets on different dates, and that these cadets shouldn't be treated as candidates appearing for a re-test.
The commission said that NCC activities involve a multitude of responsibilities in the central government, the education department and the state governments and the NCC. Also, these NCC cadets actively participate in various nation building activities.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) issued another letter announcing that a common entrance test (CET) shall be conducted for admissions to undergraduate and postgraduate courses in central Universities by the National Testing Agency (NTA) from the academic session 2022-23.
