UGC Directs Universities, Colleges to Organise Cyber Security Competitions; Check Details Here


August 25, 2021: University Grants Commission (UGC) has directed all universities and colleges to organize competitions, workshops, seminars, and various different activities on cyber security and cyber crimes in the upcoming academic session 2021-22.

Under the direction of the Union Grants Commission, universities and colleges across the country will conduct various regular competitions, events, seminars, and other activities in accordance with the COVID-19 protocols and social distancing norms. 

The commission has further directed all colleges to share the activity and completion status on the official University Activity Portal of UGC at uee.ac. The commission will check the activity status, and monitor the events conducted in various colleges through its official portal.

Union Grants Commission’s main goal is to strengthen cyber security and educate the youth regarding various issues and the importance of cyber security. The commission aims to tackle the unforeseen challenges of cybersecurity by developing an ecosystem for the same in HEls.

Referring to the same, UGC Circular reads, “It is once again requested to give wide publicity amongst students, faculty and stakeholders about the initiatives of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (l4C) of Ministry of Home Affairs MHA's Twitter handle @CyberDost".

In accordance with the circular released by the commission, the UGC has requested the general public as well as students, staff, and stakeholders to take part in the initiative taken by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center.

The Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (l4C) is an official national cyber reporting portal of the Ministry of Home Affairs. The portal takes care of the prevention of cyber crimes in India and works together with the ministry in strengthening cyber security in India. 

Earlier, in February 2021, the Union Grants Commission had requested the Higher Educational Institutes to work on developing an eco-friendly system for cyber security. The education institutes further helped the commission in strengthening cyber security in respected colleges.
