New Delhi: State Government of Telangana has allowed to hike tuition fee up to 99% in private medical colleges in Telangana. This move will make medical education more expensive for students in Private medical colleges of the state.
The Telangana state government has issued two Government Order (GO) that has approved private non-minority medical and dental institutions in the State to increase their tuition fee up to 99%. This decision has made private medical education in Telangana more expensive for students.
As per the sources in Telangana health department, the state government has taken this decision as per the suggestions by the Telangana Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee (TAFRC).
Top Private Medical Colleges in Telangana 2022
The Health Department of Telangana has issued the orders to increase the fee for several courses in some of the private medical colleges in the State. The State Health Secretary has issued GO 41 and GO 43 that allows the private colleges to increase the tuition fee from 72% to 99%. This hiked fee structure will come into effect from the 2021-22 academic year.
There are 23 private medical colleges in Telangana out of which eight colleges offer MBBS and BDS courses only. The colleges where the fee has been increased are Kamineni Institute of Medical Sciences in Narketpally, Kamineni Academy in LB Nagar, Chalmeda Anand Rao Medical College in Karimnagar and MNR Medical College in Mahbubnagar district.
In these colleges, the B category fee has been increased up to INR 13 lakh. While, other private medical colleges including Mallareddy, Apollo and SVS medical colleges have increased this fee up to INR 12.50 lakh.
Top Dental Colleges in Telangana 2022
In C category, fee has been increased up to INR 25 lakh per annum. However, the medical and dental colleges have not increased the fee for those students who join under various quotas. The fee for such students has been around INR 60,000 per year till now.
The decision to increase the tuition fee has been taken after the submission of the expense information by private medical colleges of Telangana to the TAFRC. The private medical and dental colleges do not charge capitation fees as per the orders of the Medical Health Department.
The government has cleared that colleges will not be permitted to make extra collections in any other form. It has also been clarified that the fee fixed for this year would be applicable to the students and they would be charged for the prescribed fee for four and a half years.
The decision to increase the tuition fee up to 99% has created a major problem for students interested in studying in private medical colleges of Telangana. They are saying that the increased fee structure violates the court orders, as the court had directed the medical colleges to implement the old fee structure of 2016.
