Tamil Nadu: Universities to Conduct Online Exams from June 14

May 25, 2021: All universities in Tamil Nadu have decided to conduct end semester and arrear exams through online means from June 14, 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As per the decision, the re-examination for students who appeared for February online exams, and regular exams for all engineering students will now be conducted from June 14 to July 30, 2021.

Referring to the decision, the state government released an official statement on May 24, 2021, that reads, "All universities except Anna University will conduct semester and arrear exams from June 15 to July 15. The exam results will be released before July 30".

Keeping in mind the spiking COVID-19 cases in the state, Higher Education Minister, K Ponmudi along with Vice-Chancellors of Tamil Nadu universities held an open discussion about conducting exams, through a video conference.

During the meeting, the Vice-Chancellor of state colleges decided to postpone semester examinations for all students due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The online examination for semester students was earlier scheduled to be conducted from May 25, 2021.

Additionally, due to the reports of failures in conducting proctored online tests of Anna University, the Tamil Nadu State Government has asked the university exam authority to re-conduct exams in other universities in an unsupervised manner.

Anna University has now opened the re-exam registration window on its official website from May 24, 2021 for those students who failed to appear for February online examination.

"Students who have already appeared for the exam need not pay the exam fees. The exams for 2017 and 2013 regulations students will be conducted from June 14 to July 14. For students who appear for exams before 2013 regulations, the exams are scheduled to be held from June 21 to July 30", the university stated.

Additionally, the re-exam and regular examination schedule will soon be released for all students. The first-year regular semester examinations will be conducted for all students, while last year’s students will also be able to complete their examinations as soon as possible.
