The Union Defence Minister in the event of DDUGU stated, “Today there are 23 IITs and 20 IIMs in the country. A new university has been established every week since 2014 and two new colleges have been established every day. As a result, there has been a substantial increase in the number of students pursuing higher education”.

“To build a self-reliant India, it is very important to have self-confidence in the youth of the country. Confidence comes only when the youth of the country are knowledgeable as well as character. The new National Education Policy has been framed with this in mind,” he added.

The minister further stated that India should invest more in education and that Indian Nationals are the ones who control the world's largest corporations. Despite the fact that Silicon Valley is in America, the people who operate it are IIT graduates.

Additionally praising the university Singh said, "The Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University has nurtured the Indian education tradition like River Rapti for the past several decades, and wherever I go in the world I am identified as a student of the Gorakhpur University".
