Rajiv Gandhi University to Organize its 18th Convocation on Monday


Rajiv Gandhi University is planning to host it's 18th Convocation ceremony on November 30, 2020 while following the covid-19 protocols.

The Convocation will be attended by the State Governor and RGU' s Chief Director who will be giving the presidential address to the chief guest Union education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank. The Union Education Minister will deliver the convocation address to the graduated students.

Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU), Itanagar has also invited the Union minister of state for youth affairs and Youth Kiren Rijjiju as a guest of honor. Vice chancellor of RGU has stated that though the pandemic situation is still not resolved, the university should maintain its tradition by conducting the convocation ceremony every year.

He further said, all the protocols laid down by the State and central government will be strictly followed in the ceremony. And this initiative will also guide us in adjusting to the new reality.

The ceremony will be held with 1000 seat capacity in the convention hall at the campus and only 200 people will be allowed to attend it. The officials of RGU executive department and heads of the department will be participating in the ceremony.

Only graduate students from MPhil, gold medalist of Masters and Graduate program and PhD from the affiliated colleges will be invited to the convocation ceremony. Other degrees will be conferred on the students absent.

Around 39 PhD scholars, 66 MPhil scholars, 572 masters students and 6035 graduate students shall be conferred degrees at this convocation. Out of them 52 gold medalists are awarded. 25 from graduate courses and 24 from masters courses. Also one student from MPhil course will be awarded as overall topper and graduate students will be awarded by the VC medal award and masters students will be awarded by the chancellor medal.

All the parents of the Candidate are invited online for the convocation with other administrative staff of the university.
