Punjab CM Declares to Set Up New Medical College in Sangrur; Check details


Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi has declared to set up a new medical college in Sangrur alongside laying the foundation stone of the medical colleges in districts like Hoshiarpur and Kapurthala. 

These new medical colleges will help in boosting medical education and research in the state. The CMO Punjab tweeted the establishment of a new medical college in Sangrur with 100% state funding and that he will lay the foundation stone of medical colleges in Kapurthala & Hoshiarpur very soon. 

Moreover, CM Charanjit Singh Channi gave a nod for the recruitment of nearly 3400 vacant posts in the Health Department.

A review meeting was held with the Chief Secretary and other ministers of the state regarding the work done in Punjab, where the CM decided to establish a new medical college in Sangrur and gave permission to the recruitment of the 3,400 posts vacant in the health department. 

Earlier, in June, Punjab government declared the plans to establish four new medical colleges at various districts including Hoshiarpur, Mohali, Kapurthala and Malerkotla.

Currently, the medical colleges in Punjab have announced 1,400 MBBS seats, which will eventually increase with an additional 500 seats when these new colleges are opened.

Channi said that he had approved to fill in the 10,880 vacant posts in the education department, 3,400 vacant posts in the health department, and 2,000 posts of the physical education teacher will have to h3 created. 

He also said that the salaries of 1,000 headmasters and teachers will be reduced due to an upper cap made by the government of India. 

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar have declared to lay the foundation stone of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rewari and Gorakhpur in the upcoming days.
