Pondicherry University Introduces MBA in Financial Technology; Check Details


Pondicherry University has introduced a new program- 'MBA in Financial Technology' from the academic year 2020 - 2021.

During the 36th foundation day celebration of Pondicherry University, the vice-chancellor of the University, Gurmeet Singh introduced the new course of the Department of Banking Technology.

A special online session on the ‘Need for industrial/ international academic collaboration under New Education Policy 2020’ was conducted followed by the launching event.

Soodamani Ramalingam, School of Engineering and Computer Science, University of Hertfordshire, London and Ganapathi Subramaniam of UPS Ltd, London, UK, joined the live session.

A new video conference facility was set up by the Pondicherry University, as per the guidelines of UGC. Scholars and students interacted with the resource person through it.

Training to use the technology would be provided to teaching staff in all the Affiliated Colleges of Pondicherry University and the video conferencing facility would improve the learning experience of students by enabling them to interact with the guest lecturers all over the world.

Ramanan Ramanathan, Director, Atal Innovation Mission, and Additional Secretary, NITI Aayog, stated that in empowering India’s demographic dividend to pursue entrepreneurship, Innovation plays a key role.

In the global innovation ranking, India was improving its position. He explained the impact of activities launched by the Atal Innovation Mission to promote the culture of innovation among students.

A detailed outline of the five pillars of Atma Nirbhar Bharat such as economy, infrastructure, system, demography, and demand to create self-reliant India was explained by Ramanan.

He also explained how the innovation culture could be promoted by higher educational institutions to become self-reliant and sustainable in the light of National Educational Policy 2020.

K. V. Devi Prasad, coordinator, Distinguished Lecture Series, Pondicherry University, and B. Charumathi, Professor and Head, Department of Management Studies, coordinated the event.
