PM Narendra Modi to Inaugurate Meerut Sports University on January 2: Read More Here


Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of the sports university in Salwa village of Sardhana, Meerut on January 02, 2022. 

Meerut Divisional Commissioner Surendra Singh held a meeting to ensure all safety measures will be taken during the inauguration event. Preparation for the Meerut Sports University event is now underway under the direction of district officials.

The event discussion meeting was held on Thursday, December 21, 2021, with state police and district officials, and Meerut Divisional Commissioners, including Meerut District Magistrate K Balaji, Senior Superintendent of Police Prabhakar Chaudhary.

During the meeting, the Meerut Divisional Commissioner discussed various aspects, such as parking space, alternate traffic arrangements, security cordoning, issues of passes, and other requirements to ensure the smooth commencement of the event.

After laying the foundation stone of the university, Prime Minister Narender Modi will further release the beneficiaries of the Centre’s Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana among others. 

As of now, the Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh has 4 universities, 80 technical-professional colleges, 150 academic colleges, and 2 medical colleges. The colleges are both government-funded and privately run by various organizations. 

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also laid the foundation stone for a Biogas based Electricity generation plant for the Milk Producers Cooperative Union Plant in Ramnagar, Varanasi. The overall project was worth INR 870 crore. 

While referring to the key highlights of the event, the official press release read, "This will strengthen the rural economy and help farmers of the region by creating new opportunities for them”.

“The Prime Minister will also digitally transfer about Rs 35 crore bonus to the bank accounts of more than 1.7 lakh milk producers associated with Banas Dairy” the press release further reads.  

The inauguration event in Varanasi was held in the presence of state officials on December 23, 2021. The biogas electricity generation plant will help the Milk Production Cooperative Union Plant to run with self-sufficient energy.
