PM Modi to Address IIT Kanpur's 54th Convocation on December 28; Check Details Here


Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the 54th Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur convocation as a Chief Guest. The event will be held in hybrid mode on Tuesday, December 28, 2021. 

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur's 54th Convocation ceremony will be held in three sessions. Students have the option to either join the event on the campus ground or through online platforms. 

While expressing his gratitude, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, "I look forward to being at IIT Kanpur on the 28th of this month to address the convocation ceremony. This is a vibrant institution, which has made pioneering contributions towards science and innovation".

In his tweet, the Prime Minister asked students to share their suggestions on themes and ideas that will be discussed during the convocation event. “I invite everyone to share suggestions” the official tweet reads. 

IIT Kanpur 54th Convocation will be held for session 2021 in the presence of Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Anandiben Patel, and Union Minister Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan. 

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will attend the event as the Guests of Honor. The ceremony will be overseen by the IIT Kanpur’s Chairman, Board of Governors, Dr. K Radhakrishnan. 

While talking about the highlights of the event, IIT Kanpur Faculty Member, Professor Abhay Karandikar stated that the institute has shown great development in the field of research and innovation. To help educate students, the institute has launched several initiatives for the nation.

Adding to the statement, the IIT Kanpur Professor said, “We are glad to be able to bid adieu to the year with convocation in the presence of invited respected dignitaries, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi”.

“I wish that the outgoing students will take this moment as a threshold to enter the world of selfless service to the nation at large" he further said. 

During the 54th Convocation Ceremony, IIT Kanpur UG and PG Course students will receive their degrees through online or offline mode. Out of 1,723 students, a total of 183 students will receive Ph.D. degrees, 11 MTech-PhD joint degrees, and 545 postgraduate degrees.

Additionally, over 136 dual degrees, 157 MSc (2-year); 27 Double Major, 664 undergraduate degrees (560 BTech; 104 BS (4-year), and 223 minor degrees will be awarded to students during the event.
