PIB Warns Students Against Fake UGC Notification on Semester Exams Circulating on Social Media; Check Details Here


The Press Information Bureau (PIB) FactCheck has warned the students against a fake University Grants Commission (UGC) notification being circulated in the social media. 

The fake UGC notification states that the university semester exams would be conducted offline. However, the commission stated that no such notification has been issued. 

Further, the press information bureau, PIB recommended the students to keep a track on the official UGC website and refer to the official notifications for authenticated information. 

According to the fake UGC notification circulating on social media, as the colleges are functioning while following the Covid-19 protocols, the commission has directed the universities to hold offline semester exams at home centres owing to covid-19 pandemic. 

However, the press information bureau has tweeted that the UGC has not published any such notification on the offline exams for the students and has advised to check the official UGC website for the latest updates. 

The University Grants Commission has not notified the students and universities about any changes related to academic activity or decisions regarding the semester or term examinations.

As the country witnessed the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic, the university grants commission has been releasing various instruction regarding the offline and online classes, examinations and evaluation criteria to be implemented following the SOPs to reopen the campus in line with the Ministry of Home Affair (MHA) and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) guidelines.

Considering the current situation, some students of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow have intensified their online protest asking the intervention of UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for the cancellation of offline examinations keeping in view of the spread of the new Omicron Variant. 

Students are actively protesting on social media platforms after the state CM spoke about the fear of a third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. 

Further, many universities have planned to conduct online exams for UG and PG students. While some universities, including Anna University have declared to conduct offline semester exams for the undergraduate and postgraduate engineering students.
