Odisha Engineering Admission 2021: Last Date to Apply Extended till December 30; Check Details Here


Odisha: The deadline for the admission to first-year engineering courses has been extended till December 31, 2021, for the academic session 2021-22. 

Earlier, the Odisha Private Engineering College Association (OPECA) announced the last date to apply for the engineering admissions till December 15, 2021. 

As per the reports, the Odisha Private Engineering College (OPEC) Association had filed a plea in the Odisha high court seeking the extension of the admission deadline for the engineering courses. However, it moved the Supreme Court of India urging for an extension of the same. 

The OPEC mentioned in its plea stating that earlier in 2020, the last date to apply for admissions to the engineering colleges was till December 31, however, this year, the deadline was advanced by 15 days till December 15.

Further, a huge number of vacant seats in private engineering colleges in Odisha were available as several students failed to participate in the Odisha Joint Entrance Exam (OJEE) owing to the Covid-19 pandemic, the plea mentioned. 

Once the supreme court heard the plea, it agreed to extend the deadline for engineering admissions till December 31, 2021. 

Binod Das, OPEC Secretary, said that the deadline for admission to the engineering college has been extended till December 31, for the current academic year 2021-22. 

Therefore, students intending for lateral entry or first year admission to the engineering courses can visit the colleges and seek admissions till December 31, 2021, Das said. 

Meanwhile, Odisha has a total of 121 private polytechnic colleges, 35 government polytechnic institutions, and 80 engineering colleges

Entrance Exams Accepted by Odisha Engineering Colleges

Candidates seeking admissions into the engineering colleges in Odisha will be selected based on their scores in the national-level or state-level entrance exams like JEE Main and OJEE. Some of the engineering colleges accept university-level exams like KIITEESAAT, etc. 

Candidates who qualify the entrance exams will have to go for the counseling procedure of that exam. In order to get a seat in the preferred course or colleges, they'll have to register for the counseling procedure. 

Post the counselling registration, candidates will be required to fill the choices of colleges & streams as per their preferences. The allotment of seats will be done based on the candidate's rank, filled choices, availability of seats, category, etc. 

Further, the candidates who will get a seat, will have to report to the allotted college & confirm their seat within the allotted time period.
