New Delhi: SVKM’s Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, NMIMS, Deemed-to-be University has signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with seven leading corporations across multiple sectors.
The primary aim of NMIMS, signing the MoU agreement, is to produce skilled manpower across multiple sectors alongside filling the human resources gap between the growing demand and stagnant supply.
The seven corporates with whom the institute signed the MoU are The International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid-Tropics (ICRISAT), Patancheru (Telangana), Tripura Biotech Limited, Hyderabad, Prathista Industries Limited, Hyderabad, Agri Life, Sangareddy (Telangana), Sri Bioaesthetics Private Limited, Hyderabad, Varsha Bioscience, and Technology India Technology Pvt. Ltd, Hyderabad, and Vaishnavi Biotech Limited, Hyderabad.

As a part of the MoU signed by NMIMS, applicable for all campuses, these corporate parties will join hands to impart training and consulting services to the students to prepare technical and managerial manpower.
The NMIMS campuses and these 7 corporates will encourage and promote “academic and research collaboration in mutually accepted subjects, facilitate student and faculty exchange or visits, knowledge sharing and organise joint workshops, seminars, conferences and training programmes, under the agreement.
Expressing his gratitude towards the corporates, Dr. Tapan Kumar Panda, Director NMIMS, Hyderabad, said that he thanks his partners for giving NMIMS an opportunity to contribute to human resource and skill development for the country’s agriculture sector.
With the country leapfrogging from an import reliance a few decades ago in agriculture to becoming self-reliant and then huge strides in the export of value-added products, there will be an enhanced and continuous need for skilled manpower. Thus, the institute seeks to bridge this gap by creating a symbiotic relationship with his partners in various spheres of academics, research, and training across all sectors, Panda said.

At present, the agriculture sector ranks second toward contributing to state GDP (SGP). The share of agriculture in total employment has surged to 39.4% whereas manufacturing has declined to 7.3%.
The unemployment rates in rural and urban areas are estimated to be 1.3% and 6.9%, while the unskilled workforce in Agriculture is 85% v/s the global average of 44%.
According to the NMIMS release, this industry-academia collaboration with 7 corporate parties will ensure a consistent supply of a highly skilled workforce in the fast-emerging agribusiness and Agri tech sector in Telangana.
