The National Medical Commission (NMC) has approved a total of 200 MBBS seats in the newly established Palamau and Hazaribagh medical colleges and hospitals.
Banna Gupta, Jharkhand Health Minister announced that the NMC has cleared the decks for MBBS admissions for the upcoming academic year 2021-22, in the new state-run medical colleges at Hazaribagh and Palamau.
Expressing his delight, the minister said that the Centre has finally given the nod to lift the ban after regular follow ups and requests of the state government. Both medical colleges in Palamau and Hazaribagh will soon start their MBBS Admission Process for a total of 100 seats each for the academic session 2021-22.
Further, the ban has been lifted on all three colleges, causing the health department to actively resolve the issues of faculty, library, manpower, and laboratory. Medical aspirants in the state will be greatly benefited from the lifting of the ban, Gupta added.

Post the announcement was made public, several medical aspirants came forward and personally thanked the health minister by meeting him at his residence.
Earlier in 2020, the National Medical Commission (NMC) had banned admissions at these two medical colleges, including the medical college at Dumka in October-November owing to poor infrastructure and shortage of faculty.
However, now, the health has confirmed that the state government will not only upgrade the facilities but also ensure to hire faculty on contract on a war footing.
In October 2021, when Dumka Medical College submitted an affidavit mentioning that it will look after all the issues within the allotted time, the commission permitted the college to grant admissions.
All these medical colleges were set up and inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi, during the BJP regime led by Raghubar Das.
With the latest developments and upgrades, the state will intake medical aspirants for a total of 3000 MBBS seats for the academic session 2021-22.
