NIT Trichy: Innovation Facility Centre Launched To Promote Innovations Towards Commercialisation


The National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) and the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Trichy have set up the Innovation Facility Center to promote innovations towards commercialisation, drive technology transfer and mentor students and faculty startups.

Krishnan Balasubramanian, a faculty member of IIT-Madras inaugurated the Innovation Facility Center of NIT Trichy on October 26, 2020.

Promoting innovations towards commercialization, driving technology transfer and mentoring student and faculty startups is the main objective of the NIT Trichy's Innovation Facility Centre.

The technologies that need to be developed and commercialized will also be brought to the notice of the institute by the facility center.

Krishnan stated that society should be impacted by research and innovation activities. This is just the beginning for many startups to evolve from NIT Trichy, he hopefully said.

NRDC NIT Trichy's coordinator, K Muthu Kumar stated the importance of promoting activities of the MSME sector like mentoring the technical expertise of Trichy fabrication clusters and boost fabrication of indigenous defence-related products in line with the requirements of Tamil Nadu defence corridor.

S Muthukumaran, Dean (Research and Consultancy) NIT Trichy, stated that solid waste management and green crackers would be the primary focus of the center.

They have also planned to conduct webinars to promote the same, said S Muthukumaran.

Mini Shaji Thomas, the Director of NIT Trichy explained the need for such an Innovation Facility Centre. Importance should be given towards transferring knowledge in terms of product and technology.

Satish Vasu Kailas of the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore described the strategy to convert pandemic blocking stone into stepping stone in research progress.

He gave useful tips and strategies to complete tasks and make progress on time in terms of framing a hypothesis, executing experiments, writing manuscripts, and work-life balance.
