New Delhi: National Institute of Technology, Trichy (NIT-T) has commenced a 26-day skill development internship training programme for polytechnic students.

NIT, Trichy started the internship training programme for the students of Government Polytechnic College at Papanasam in Thanjavur on its campus from July 6, 2022.

The institute aims to impart training on the basics of electrical machines, electronics, robotics and automation to the Polytechnic students under this internship programme. 

According to the latest reports, Sivakumaran, professor and coordinator of the NIT internship programme, explained the overview and details of the internship programme offered for 30 students for 26 days. 

The students participating in the internship programme will get a comprehensive training and hands-on sessions in the area of basics of electrical machines, electronics, robotics and automation.

Duraiselvam, dean (planning and development), NIT Trichy, elucidated about the skill development courses offered in various laboratories of the institute.

Commenting about the programme introduced at the institute, NIT-T director Aghila said that the internship programme has been envisioned to offer skill excellence for students, practising professionals and industries around its vicinity. 

Candidates with Working Experience to be Assessed 

The director of the institute revealed that the candidates with prior learning experience or skills will also be assessed and certified under-recognition of prior learning (RPL) category. 

Launched in October 2016, the skill development plan/scheme aims to provide fresh skill development training to school and college dropouts and unemployed youths by offering short-term courses.

The director concluded by saying that the Tamil Nadu government has been specifically focusing on skill development for the past decade. 

Moreover, the state government has announced Tamil Nadu National Skill Development Corporation (TNSDC) as the state nodal agency for skill development, which was constituted with a vision to transform the state into skill hub by skilling the youth to improve their employability and match the expectations of the Industry.
