NIT Trichy Collaborates With SRLDC To Strengthen Industry-academia Interaction; Check details


The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Trichy has collaborated with the Southern Regional Load Despatch Centre (SRLDC), Bangalore, operated and maintained by the Power System Operation Corporation (POSOCO) to strengthen the industry-academia interaction. 

As a part of the collaboration, a ,Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Mini Shaji Thomas, Director, NIT Trichy, and J Jerome Amirtharaj, assistant manager (HR), POSOCO, in the presence of S Muthukumaran, Dean (Research and Consultancy), and other faculty members of NIT Trichy. 

While addressing the gathering, Thomas said that the MoU will provide a great number of opportunities to faculty members and students to gain hands-on experience by working in the power engineering field. 

Further, she said that the outcome of the MoU will certainly alleviate the effectiveness of managing and operating the Indian power grid. 

NIT Trichy Courses 

The primary aim of the MoU is to encourage research on various issues related to the Indian power sector, design courses as part of industrial experience sharing, joint research and development projects, data sharing, and joint publications of research papers between SRLDC and NIT Trichy on the basis of a non-disclosure agreement and other miscellaneous activities. 

The MoU signed between NIT Trichy and SRLDC will be valid for a period of three years. According to the NIT Trichy press release, the coordinators for implementation of the MoU will be N Kumaresan, Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department, NIT Trichy, and SP Kumar, chief general manager, SRLDC, POSOCO.

Established in 1964, the institute started as the Regional Engineering College and is now among the oldest establishments by the National Institutes of Technology (NITs) system.
