November 02, 2020: National Institute of Technology (NIT) Silchar organized its 18th convocation online in effect to the COVID-19 pandemic crisis. The degrees and medals were awarded virtually to the students graduating from the institute.
The online convocation organized by NIT Silchar was attended by the Union Education Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, and Sarbananda Sonowal, the Chief Minister of Assam. During the event, Mr. Nishank congratulated the NIT students on his official Twitter account.

The Education Minister also mentioned that NIT Silchar has always been at the forefront in researching and developing the nation by sponsoring 56 projects. Additionally, he has also encouraged the students of NIT Silchar to contribute ideas and research in ‘Yukti 2.’
Yukti 2.0 is an online portal of an initiative launched by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) aids the systematic assimilation of technologies that have commercial potential, for the betterment of society.
Mr. Sonowal, the Chief Minister of Assam virtually congratulated the students on the 18th Convocation of NIT Silchar. He encouraged the students to work hard in the establishment of New India.

Mr. Ramesh Pokriyal Nishank also stated, “When it comes to knowledge, Science, and Technology, India always remains at the forefront.”
The Education Minister also enlightened the student with the advantage of establishing a National Research Foundation. He added that the development of New India can only be possible through the committed efforts and ability of all of us.
He further stated, “The National Education Policy along with the establishment of a National Research Foundation will take India to even more significant heights. The youth is the most influential new age power.”
