NIT Andhra Pradesh, LinkedIn sign MoU for Research in Cloud Computing & Machine Learning; Details Here


New Delhi: National Institute of Technology (NIT) Andhra Pradesh and LinkedIn have recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly work in nurturing talents in the field of Cloud Computing and Machine Learning.

Under the MoU, NIT Andhra Pradesh and LinkedIn will provide research grants to Principal Investigator, Karthick Seshadri, Assistant Professor at NIT Andhra Pradesh, and Co-investigator Nagesh Bhattu Sristy for working on finding solutions in the field of cloud computing.

NIT Andhra Pradesh Faculty Members will work on solving open research problems in enabling intelligent and elastic cloud computing. Furthermore, both parties will work on joint research projects in the field of intelligent cloud computing and foster research. 

The MoU was signed by the NIT Director, C. S. P. Rao, and Director, Business Systems Programme of LinkedIn, Naga Krishna R Sathvalli. Additionally, Cidambaran Kollengode, Director, Data and AI Platforms division of LinkedIn was also present at the collaboration event. 

Talking about the collaboration, Naga Krishna R Sathvalli from LinkedIn said, “As an outcome of the first MoU with LinkedIn, we have set up a cloud computing test-bed using the servers sponsored through funding by LinkedIn to run experiments at NIT Andhra Pradesh premises”.

Adding to the statement, NIT Andhra Pradesh officials stated that this is the second time when NIT is collaborating with one of the leading business platforms, LinkedIn. The first memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the parties was signed back in June 2020. 

Chidambaran Kollengode, Director, Data and AI Platforms Division, LinkedIn, said, “To address the problem of scaling, there is a need for an efficient workload characterization model. This collaboration has been very promising and fruitful in our steps to realize a truly elastic cloud.”

NIT Andhra Pradesh and Kollengode researchers have developed further developed an ‘unsupervised model for profiling the workloads arriving at the data centre and a supervised ensemble model for prediction of resource demands on the cloud.’

The research model was further selected to be published under the ‘Advances in Data Computing, Communication, and Security,’ a Journal by Springer.

Earlier, on January 05, 2022, the NIT Andhra Pradesh has taken another initiative to work on Bio Valorisation for Value-added Products Production. The institute invited researchers and various interested faculty members to join its five-day online faculty development program. 

The NIT AP Program on “Bio Valorisation: Trend and Prospects of Value-Added Products” was held from January 03 to January 07, 2022, for all faculty members. The event was held to promote the research initiative of the institute in the Bio Valorisation domain.
