NISER Bhubaneswar to Begin MSc in Medical & Radiological Physics from 2022-23; Read Details Here


New Delhi: National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) Bhubaneswar will offer an M.Sc program in Medical and Radiological Physics. This will be the first time for an institute to offer a master's level program in this specialisation in Odisha.

As per NISER Bhubaneswar, the three-year-long M.Sc program is specially designed based on the syllabus released by the Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), Mumbai. The first batch of this course is expected to start in the month of August 2022. 

Informing about NISER Course 2022, the officials stated that the institute has received the approval to offer 10 admission seats for the M.Sc program in Medical, Radiological Physics. The course will include theoretical classes in the first two years and an internship program in the last year. 

Talking about the program, NISER Bhubaneswar Director Sudhakar Panda said, "We have received approval for 10 seats for this course. Theory and practical classes will be conducted for the first two years. After this, students will go for a mandatory internship in a big hospital".

"We have collaborated with AIIMS Bhubaneswar, Acharya Harihar Post Graduate Institute of Cancer (AHPGIC) at Cuttack, and Tata Memorial Centre (TMC) in Mumbai for this internship program" he added.

As of now, the institute has received as many as 251 registrations for its M.Sc program under NISER Bhubaneswar Admission 2022. The applications are from graduates who have secured 60% or above marks in B.Sc (Physics) or equivalent field from a recognized university. 

Referring to the application received, Bedangadas Mohanty, Professor of Physics and Co-Ordinator of Centre for Medical and Radiation Physics (CMRP), NISER stated that the institute is preparing to conduct an interview process to shortlist candidates for 10 admission seats on campus. 

The interviews for M.Sc Admission 2022 will be held from July 1 to July 4, 2022. Registered applicants are advised to visit the campus as per the schedule and carry the required documents for the identity verification process. 

Earlier, NISER inaugurated its Centre for Medical and Radiation Physics (CMRP) on the campus. The centre is established to conduct course-related research and other related activities in the field of medical and radiation physics.
