National Conference on Media and Journalism-2 to be Held Online from Sept 21-24; Read How to Register

NCMJ has taken a step ahead and increased its reach maintaining its standards to amaze people. This conference has gone online this year with speakers from India and abroad.

Dr. Vishwanath Karad MIT World Peace University's second edition of the National Conference on Media and Journalism (NCMJ) has returned to stimulate the minds of media professionals and enthusiasts.

The four-day event, from 21 September 2020 to 24 September 2020, will be attended by speakers from all over the world, who will join forces to discuss topics and session themes related to the role of the media in promoting the culture of peace in the world and its crucial need, particularly in terms of our current conditions.

Ethics in Media & Journalism

NCMJ has become a platform for journalists, students, teachers and all those who believe that ethics is still an integral part of the media.

Speaking about the conference, Dr R M Chitnis, Pro Vice Chancellor, MIT World Peace University, said that this time, NCMJ-2 is going down the digital road, making it more accessible to people who want to share their thoughts on the media.

Also sharing her thoughts on the conference, Dr. Anuradha Parasar, Dean of the Faculty of Liberal Arts, Fine Arts, Media and Journalism, MIT World Peace University, said, "This year, you will see some new ideas put forward at the conference.”

w The conference will begin every day with the News Bulletin, followed by the rest of the sessions.

In addition, Dr. Parasar said, "There will be 2 to 3 plenary sessions every day along with a unique platform called 'Media to Media Connect' where journalists and media entrepreneurs will face each other to exchange ideas.

There will be other specialised platforms, such as 'Youth to Youth Connect' where students across the globe can share their thoughts and discuss different topics.

The conference will bring together leading media figures, experts, policymakers, academics, social observers, administrators and peacemakers to meet, exchange perspectives and share best practises on the promotion of sustainable peace and development processes.

Ethical Journalism & COVID-19 Challenges in Media

The conference will issue a resolution for each session to be passed by a high number of votes through online polling.

The inaugural session will be attended by all the university dignitaries who will share their valuable insights on the subject of 'Ethical Journalism: The Foundation for World Peace.'

Next in line will be two plenary sessions with the themes 'Media & Entertainment Industry: Challenges Post COVID-19' and 'Future of Broadcast Media in the Digital Age' in which professors, journalists and media fraternity dignitaries will share their views and find solutions.

The first day of the Media to Media Connect session will focus on the theme of 'Language Press: Challenges & Opportunities.'

Fake News & Journalism Through the Lens of Human Rights

On the second day of NCMJ II, there will be three plenary sessions with topics such as 'Journalism Through the Lens of Human Rights,'

The Emergence of India as a Global Power: An International Perspective' and 'Fake News: Is Fact Checking the Solution.

Every year, NCMJ has the legacy of tackling serious, socially relevant and impactful issues of concern, which have a particular impact on our fellow citizens at large.

The second day will also be followed by a Media to Media Connect session on the theme 'Changing trends in film journalism: new opportunities and young journalists' in which the speakers will have an interactive session with the participants on how to take advantage of the many opportunities in this field.

Youth & the Media Community

On the third day, two plenary sessions with the themes 'Community Radio In India: Kal Aaj Aur Kal' and 'Role of Media in National Security' will be held with young people connected as 'Power Packed Youth: Media Connect.' NCMJ-2 appeals to young people to find solutions to the effects of the media on young people and to overcome their negative effects. The conference discussed not only journalism but all the media, which can clearly be seen in the themes of its session.

The last day of the NCMJ-2 will include three plenary sessions and one Youth Connect. The themes of the plenary sessions will be 'Radio Relevance as a Medium of Mass Communications for Public Welfare,' 'Challenges of Media Owners: Road Ahead' and 'Creating Future Media Leaders to Promote Culture of Peace in the World.' The theme of Youth to Youth Connect is 'Young Media Leaders: The Way Forward.' The fourth day will be about creating a better future and focusing on people's welfare.

Creating Future Media Leaders

Expressing his thoughts on this important conference, Pro Vice-Chancellor of MIT World Peace University, Dr. Ravikumar Chitnis, said: "Through this NCMJ platform, MIT World Peace University wishes to state that media ethics is not subject to compromise. What we are sowing today, we are going to reap tomorrow, and the fruits of it should be positive. NCMJ has proved to be a unique platform for media fraternity and will continue to grow and build a strong foothold for developing and imbibing an ethical approach in our youth, who will represent India with a strong sense of ethics in place.
