Nagpur University Final Year Exam 2020 postponed as staff go on strike


Nagpur: The final year online examinations of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) also known as Nagpur University were postponed as the non-teaching staff across Maharashtra continued their strike. 

On Tuesday, the RTMNU Director of Board of Examination (DoE) Mr Prafulla Sabale declared that the final year examinations which were going to be held from October 1, 2020, onwards were hereby postponed due to the strike. 

An approximate of 78,000 students were to appear for the examination. The final year examinations of RTMNU were scheduled to be conducted from October 1-18. Students were to sit for a mock test before the examination to get accustomed to the online examination pattern.

In this way, online examinations of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (BAMU) which was going to be conducted from 1st October onwards, was also postponed. 

BAMU Vice-Chancellor Mr Pramod Yeole confirmed the rise of such development and assured the students saying that a new exam timetable will be released on behalf of the University, shortly.

A meeting was conducted chaired by the honourable minister Mr Uday Samant with the respective vice-chancellors of a total of 13 universities regarding the situation and the decision of postponement was finalized. 

A new timetable for rescheduled examinations will be declared soon, RTMNU officials added. 

The non-teaching staff of all non-agricultural universities and colleges across Maharashtra have declared a sit-in strike in demand for implementation of the seventh pay commission from September 24, 2020, onwards. 

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, this year, the final year students of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University were to appear for their examinations via an android application called 'RTMNU Pariksha'. 

The application was going to consist of 50 multiple-choice questions. Students were to attempt 25 out of those. The android application was to be downloaded from the google play store.
