New Delhi: MNIT Jaipur and IAF signed a MoU on January 10, 2022 for carrying out development and research projects in the near future. Air Vice-Marshal Samir V Borade and Director MNIT APS Rathore co-signed the MoU virtually.

With this, MNIT has become the first institute among the 31 NITs to sign such a MoU with IAF. The first ever institute who signed a MoU with IAF is IIT Delhi.
The IAF’S Nodal Technology Centres (NTC), present at a few locations in the country, has been engaging with several academic institutes for various projects.
According to a report by TOI, the partnership focuses on the acceleration of IAF’s indigenisation efforts and gradual achievement of self-reliance leading towards the “Atma Nirbhar Bharat.”
The agreement can be counted as part of the IAF strategy to enhance non-destructive techniques (NDT) by collaborating with the academic institutions. During the initial phase, MNIT has marked a few projects to study and to be worked upon jointly with IAF.
“The partnership between IAF and MNIT Jaipur will significantly boost the efforts by Base Repair Depots (BRDs) of Maintenance Command, IAF. The collaboration will enhance sustenance, capability enhancement, obsolescence management, and indigenisation and achieving self-reliance…”, as stated by a regional IAF officer.
Recently, PM Modi attended the 54th convocation of IIT Kanpur where he asked students to become impatient for a self-reliant India. He further said that initiatives like Start-up India, Atal Innovation Mission, PM Research Fellowships and National Education Policy have been launched in the past seven years to build the foundation of a self-reliant India.
