Maharashtra Edu Minister Grants Permission to Colleges for Conducting Offline/Online Exams Depending on Situation; Check details Here


Maharashtra higher and technical education minister Uday Samant granted permission to the colleges and universities across the state to conduct online or offline exams depending on the situation. 

While addressing the convocation ceremony of Savitribai Phule Pune University, the education minister announced the universities and colleges to hold the exams based on the situation in their areas. 

Keeping in mind the new variant of COVID-19, the colleges and universities have been recommended to conduct the examinations in both modes depending on the situation, Samant said. 

He said that the offline exams will be conducted in future, as the online exams are held as an alternative for the impending covid-19 circumstances. However, once the situation improves, offline exams will be conducted.

Further, the students shouldn't be under the impression of online exams forever. Every district in the state should constitute an examination panel to organise discussions with the district collectors and disaster management department to plan and decide the exam mode. 

In order to cancel the conduction of offline exams due to the fear of a new variant, Omicron, the students of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow sought the intervention of UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath. 

Many students took to social media and protested after the varsity announced to hold offline exams for the regular and carry over-exams of odd semester for the undergraduate and postgraduate students on December 28. 

Earlier in the month of November, Anna University planned to conduct offline semester examinations for undergraduate and postgraduate students of engineering which disappointed several private engineering colleges 

Further, a fake notice regarding the conduction of offline exams in all universities for semester exams was circulating on social media, for which the PIB Fact Check warned the students against such notices

It alerted the students saying that the University Grants Commission (UGC) has not issued any such notice on holding the offline examinations.
