Madhya Pradesh Govt Plans to Open 10 New Medical Colleges in the State; Check Details Here


New Delhi: MP government with a view to ensuring an adequate number of doctors in the state is working on a scheme to open 10 new medical colleges, a minister said on Wednesday.

 Medical Education Minister Vishvas Sarang, who arrived here to review his department’s work, told reporters, “We are planning to open 10 new medical colleges in the state. We are also mulling opening medical colleges through public-private partnership (PPP) PPP mode”.

He also stated that the state will receive five imported genome sequencing equipment from the Centre, while the Madhya Pradesh government will acquire four such machines on its own, and that these devices will be used in various medical institutions around the state.

The state government will soon start ‘Mareej Mitra Yojana’ in the state, under which interested persons can work in hospitals as volunteers to serve the needy patients and help them in all possible manners, he said.

Meanwhile, Sarang laid the foundation stone for a new OPD and academic buildings at the city's government dental college, as well as a new post-graduate department building.

During the event, the minister said that the number of BDS (bachelor of dental surgery) seats in the state's only government dental college will be expanded from 63 to 100, and the number of MDS (master of dental surgery) seats will be increased from 27 to 54.

Recently, Madhya Pradesh stated that MBBS courses in Hindi will be offered in several state colleges. 

More students will be able to pursue MBBS and medical education as a result of this programme. The MBBS Hindi programme will begin in the upcoming academic session at Gandhi Medical College in Bhopal.
