New Delhi: A two-day annual international conference titled "Recent Advances in Fundamental and Applied Sciences (RAFAS)-2023" was held on the university campus by the School of Chemical Engineering and Physical Sciences at Lovely Professional University (LPU), where more than 400 scientists from 11 countries were present.

More than 400 scientists from 11 nations and four continents, including the United States, United Kingdom, South Korea, Malaysia, China, Sultanate of Oman, and others, took part in the LPU International conference.

Some of the representatives from prestigious schools at the national level, including CSIR, IITs, IISc, NITS, and more, participated. There were almost 1000 oral, poster, and interactive presentations. All of them agreed that fundamental sciences are an essential component of human life for its vibrant survival.

On the inaugural day, the guest of honor, Chancellor Dr. Daniel Heimmermann of the University of South Carolina Aiken (USA), thanked LPU for being proactive as always and for organising such a significant meeting.

Hoping for successful conference outcomes of the socioeconomic advancement of the global society, he also signed a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with LPU for research projects, staff and student exchange programs, and more on the final day of the meeting.

All of the top researchers and experts from academia and business around the world who took part, presented their cutting-edge concepts and tools for achieving the SDGs of the United Nations.

The sixth and seventh goals, "Clean Water & Sanitation and Affordable & Clean Energy," received special attention. LPU Chancellor Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal congratulated the organising team and all attendees and urged everyone to stay informed of new developments in all the fields of sciences and technology.

During different keynote, invititation, oral, and poster sessions, participants shared their respective thoughts. The purpose of the conference was to discuss the most recent science advancements and new technologies.

Several LPU students also spoke with visiting think tanks and discussed engaging research themes. Top researchers were able to present and discuss their work with the heads of various scientific fields at this fourth two-day conference, which was conducted in hybrid mode—"Onsite/Online".

It was also linked to the "International Journal of Mathematical, Engineering, and Management Science" and the "RAS-YAN Journal of Chemistry" (both of which were Scopus-indexed; Q2; SJR: 0.33) (Q2; SJR: 0.33). Further, the selected papers will be published in journals with Scopus/WoS indexes for the gain of the entire scientific community.

In fact, LPU has a long history of hosting conferences that drew attendees from prestigious national and international institutions. At such seminars held by LPU in 2016, 2019, and 2021, more than 400 delegates (individually) from all over the world attended.

The multidisciplinary nature of the conference's focus included a number of fundamental and applied science study areas, including physics, chemistry, mathematics, chemical engineering, and petroleum engineering.
