New Delhi: As the country is witnessing a drip in the number of Covid-19 cases, several states and cities, such as Pune, Bangalore, Haryana, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand, Telangana, Chandigarh among others, have decided to reopen the schools in an offline mode from February 1.
Earlier this month, the schools and colleges were shut down after a sudden surge in COVID-19 cases, especially the new variant Omicron. However, due to a decrease in positivity rate in Covid-19 cases, here's a list of a few states and cities that have announced plans to reopen schools and colleges from February 1, 2022.
Pune to Reopen Schools & Colleges from February 1
Deputy CM Ajit Pawar has confirmed that Pune Schools and Colleges are slated to reopen for offline classes from February 1, 2022 onwards.
The decision to reopen the schools and colleges comes following Maharashtra Govt’s earlier decision to allow reopening of schools and colleges depending on evaluation and decision by the local authorities.
After reviewing the ongoing covid-19 situation, it was decided to reopen the schools and colleges in Pune.
All the schools and colleges reopening in Pune are to be carried out in complete compliance with the COVID-19 guidelines and precautions set up by the state government and prescribed by the local authorities.
According to the reports, the confirmation on reopening of the schools and colleges in Pune from February 1 was mentioned in a tweet, that is, the the school timings for physical classes for classes 1 to 8 will be half of the regular timings, but for classes 9 to 10, the school will run as per the regular schedule.

Similarly, the Colleges will function as per regular time in adherence to COVID-19 guidelines. However, students have to get consent from parents to attend the school. And the further decision for classes 1 to 8 will be taken in the next meeting: Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar.
Telangana Schools & Colleges to go Offline from February 1
Telangana Government has decided to reopen all the schools and colleges in the state from February 1, 2022, onwards.
Announcing the reopening of the schools, P Sabita Indra Reddy, Telangana Education Minister, said that all the COVID-19 guidelines must be strictly followed during offline classes.
Taking into account the drop in the number of Covid-19 cases in the state, the government took the decision of reopening the schools and colleges from February 1.
Earlier, the schools in the state were shut down due to a spike in COVID-19 cases till January 16 which was further extended till January 30 in view of the unstable situation.
Uttar Pradesh Schools, Colleges Shut till February 6, Online Classes to Continue
All the schools and colleges in UP will be shut till February 6, 2022, and the online classes for all the classes will be continued till February 5.
According to the official orders from the UP government, all the educational institutions will be closed till the mentioned date and online classes would continue for all students.
Jharkhand Schools to Reopen from February 1
The Jharkhand government has planned to reopen all the schools for the students of classes 1 to 12 from February 1. The proposal has also been sent to Chief Minister Hemant Soren to take the final decision regarding the reopening of the schools. However, the final announcement about reopening the Jharkhand schools will be announced on January 31, 2022.
Speaking about the online classes, Jharkhand Education Minister Jagannath Mahto said that the online classes are not successful and the government school children are also being affected.
Tamil Nadu Schools, Colleges to Reopen from February 1
After a covid-19 review meeting, the Tamilnadu Government has announced to reopen the schools and colleges from February 1, 2022. Earlier, this week, all the educational institutions in the state received a nod to resume offline classes as there's a drop in the number of Covid-19 cases in the state.
With the reopening of the schools, it is expected for the revision exams to continue for classes 10 to 12.
Chandigarh Schools to Reopen February 1
Following the trend of reopening of the schools, Chandigarh schools are all set to reopen from February 1 for physical classes. Further, colleges and other educational institutions are also allowed to reopen.
According to the notification released by the government, all the students of the age group of more than 15 years should be vaccinated at least for 1st dose in order to attend the offline classes.

Bangalore Schools to Reopen from January 31
All the schools in Bangalore will reopen from January 31 and classes will be conducted by following all Covid-19 guidelines.
Recently, the State Education Minister BC Nagesh said that he would ask for the cabinet’s opinion regarding the reopening of schools and that a date would be decided after a meeting with the Covid-19 Technical Advisory Committee and now the decision to reopen the schools was taken.
Odisha College Reopening from February 10 Notice is fake, Clarifies Higher Education Department
The Odisha higher education department has alerted the students about a fake letter on reopening of colleges and universities in the state from Feb 10, which is making rounds on social media. The Notice said that the government has not taken any such decision.
The higher education department tweeted that a fake letter was circulating in social media purportedly conveying the decision of the Higher Education Department to reopen colleges and universities from Feb 10, 2022.
However, it is hereby clarified that no such decision has been taken by the state government. Earlier on January 7, the Odisha government announced to shut all colleges, universities and technical institutions in the state until February 1, 2022, owing to the rising Covid cases in the state.
Tripura Schools to Reopen from January 31
According to the latest reports, the Tripura government has decided to reopen its schools with strict Covid-19 restrictions from January 31, 2022. All the schools in the state will reopen for students from pre-primary to class 12.
Rajasthan Schools to Begin Opening From February 1
The Rajasthan government has announced plans to reopen all the schools for Class 10 to Class 12 from February 1 and for Classes 6 to Class 9 students, the reopening will be from February 10, 222. The physical classes will be held by following the fresh Covid-19 guidelines. Also, the students will still have the option to continue online classes.
