New Delhi: JNU will discuss the various modalities of implementing the Central University Common Entrance Test during its academic council meeting on Wednesday 12, 2022. The university will deliberate on CUCET implementation in line with NEP 2020.

As per the officials, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) Delhi has already approved the addition of the CUCET entrance examination for admission during its earlier academic council meetings.
With this approval, the university is now waiting to discuss modalities and further steps for implementing CUCET in the JNU Admission 2022 process. The council members will also discuss the guidelines by the Education Ministry and UGC on the entrance exam.

Earlier, JNU Student Union criticized the discussion session, which is scheduled to commence today, January 12, 2022. The student community stated that the university is making changes in the admission criteria without discussing the same with the student community.
Adding to the statement, the student union said, "The JNU Vice-Chancellor, has yet again chosen the period of a pandemic to put an additional agenda to the Academic Council Meeting for passing CUCET, without any deliberation and discussion with the student community".

"Even for this time, the JNUSU representatives have not been invited for the Academic Council Meeting. "Ann even if professors who have voting rights and dissent in the AC meeting, we know how they are muted," the student union further added.
As per reports, the first step towards adding Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET) in the admission criteria was taken by the Delhi University. With this initiative, the students from all education boards will now have an equal opportunity to apply for admission seats at DU.
Hence with CUCET, the merit list will be prepared based on CUCET and board examination marks. The National Testing Agency will mandatorily conduct the examination from the academic year 2022 onwards.
Delhi University has implemented the conduction of CUCET from the DU 2022 session, said VC Yogesh Singh. Students who wish to take admission in the postgraduate and undergraduate programs of the university will have to appear for the entrance examination.
