New Delhi: JNU Delhi has announced that NTA will now be the conducting body for the Central University Common Entrance Test (CUCET) exam from the academic year 2022-23.
The decision was taken by the Academic Council along with the Director of Admissions, Jayant Tripathi, JNU. The varsity’s decision to entrust NTA as the conducting body will make the agency solely responsible for the conduct of the exam. Until now, the exam was conducted by JNU.

The decision was taken in the 159th JNU Academic Council meeting on Wednesday. Recently the University of Delhi has also decided to conduct CUCET for its admission as per the direction of the UGC. .
Since 2019, JNU has been conducting the JNU Entrance Examination (JNUEE) at several centres across the country for admission to the various programmes offered by the university. However, from the academic year 2022-23, the varsity will use CUCET marks to offer admission to various courses offered by JNU.
The examination will be conducted through the CBT or Computer Based Mode across the country at various examination centres.
“During the deliberations in the academic council meeting, a large number of members including the Deans of schools, Centre chairpersons and external members of the council emphasized that CUCET would provide a level-playing field to numerous eligible students from across the country reducing the burden of taking several entrance examinations”, as mentioned in the official notice.
Last year, UGC directed the Vice-Chancellors of the Central Universities in India to conduct the NTA administered CUCET as the admission process. The decision to make the entrance examination mandatory was made on December 17, 2021.
Following the decision, earlier this year, DU has declared already that the admission to its several departments is to be done through CUCET.
Regarding the decision, Yogesh Singh, the Vice Chancellor of the Delhi University has further stated that the earlier cut-off based admission system acted as a disadvantage for the students from the boards with “strict” marking.
