New Delhi: Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (JNTUH) has relaxed the credit requirements for advancing BTech and BPharma students to the next year.
This decision was made a short time after the students of JNTU, Hyderabad, protested the university's decision to revoke the exemption that had been granted in the past couple of years.
Earlier, the JNTUH officials granted an exemption to students on cut-off in consideration of the Covid epidemic. However, the students can now advance to the next academic year by earning merely 25% of the required credits.

As of right now, the relaxation is only applicable to BTech, BPharm, PharmD, and PharmD (PB) courses in the current academic year 2021–2022; that is the students will be promoted to the academic year 2022–2023.
Students enrolled in the PharmD and PharmD (PB) programmes must have to appear and pass all subject exams and a maximum of two backlog subjects are permitted. Students are permitted to have a maximum of four backlog subjects for BTech and BPharm programmes.
However, all the incoming students will be required to follow the credit-based detention rules in accordance with the "existing academic regulations in vogue/as applicable to the respective academic regulations," the official notification stated. Also, this relaxation is only for the 2021–22 academic year students.
From the current academic year 2022-23 (promotion to the academic year 2023-24) onwards the credit based detention will be implemented as per the existing academic Regulations in vogue as applicable to the respective academic regulations.
