IIT Roorkee PhD Scholars Selected for Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship; Read Details Here


New Delhi: As many as 42 PhD students from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee have been chosen for the Prime Minister's Research Fellowship (PMRF) in the May 2022 cycle. The shortlisted students work in a variety of interdisciplinary research and development areas.

As per the IIT Roorkee, the shortlisted candidates chosen for PMRF are Shreya Shukla, Sudhanshu Dixit, Adwaita Sr Nair, Salunke Akshaykumar, Antra Choubey, Diksha Vats, Pushpender, Abhitesh Sachdeva, Ashwini Tiwari, Dikshant Bodana, Riya Verma, Sneha, Ashish Kumar, Abhishek Srivastava and Aatreyee.

Informing about the PMRF scholars, IIT Roorkee tweeted, “42 students from @iitroorkee have been selected for the prestigious Prime Minister's Research Fellowship #PMRF Scheme (May 2022, cycle-9) for PhD. The PhD scholars are currently working in various areas of interdisciplinary research and development". 

In addition to this, nine research scholars from IIT Patna have received the Prime Minister's Research Fellowship (PMRF) for the May 2022 cycle. Selected research researchers will be awarded fellowships and research contingency grants as part of the programme.

The Prime Minister's Research Fellowship (PMRF) Scheme was launched to raise the standard of research across the nation's higher education institutions. The programme aims to entice the best research talent, thereby realising the mission of growth via innovation.

Earlier, the programme was revealed in the budget for 2018–19. All IITs, IISERs, the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru, and several of the best central universities and National Institutes of Technology (NITs) that grant degrees in science and/or technology are among the institutions that can offer PMRF.

Under the Prime Minister's Research Fellowship (PMRF) programme, shortlisted candidates are awarded with fellowship amounts ranging from Rs 70,000 in their first year to a maximum of Rs 80,000 in their fifth year. Each shortlisted fellow will also be qualified for an annual research grant of Rs. 2 lakh.
