IIT Roorkee's New Director Says to Focus on NEP Vision 2030; Details Here


New Delhi: As per the latest updates, Prof. Kamal Kishore Pant (K K Pant) is named the new director of the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee). He says the aim will be to focus on start-up culture, sustainability, self-sufficiency in food production, distress-free healthcare, digital literacy and more.

Previously, Prof. Kamal Kishore Pant (K K Pant) held the positions of professor and former dean of the Department of Chemical Engineering at IIT Delhi. He will now work as the newly appointed director of IIT Roorkee and will focus on offering better education opportunities to students. 

In order to position IIT Roorkee as an important hub for training international scholars and to form worldwide alliances addressing cutting-edge research and innovation, the institute plans to build new R&D facilities under the direction of Professor K K Pant.

He will also assist in the establishment of start-ups. He said, "Like all of my contemporaries, we will work towards scaling greater heights to create a sustainable and equitable society through teaching cutting-edge academic content using state-of-the-art methodologies and innovative research in science and technology".

To produce employable/entrepreneurial engineers, the institute will now place more emphasis on NEP Vision 2030, which includes sustainable Clean and Green energy, Electric vehicles, renewables, rural industrialization, space, self-sufficiency in food production, distress-free healthcare, and digital India.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur awarded Prof. Pant his PhD in chemical engineering in 1997. He is also a Fellow of the INAE and NASI scientific academies. He succeeded the departing Director, Prof. A K Chaturvedi, and is also a top expert in cutting-edge technology.
