IIT Roorkee Begins Online ‘Learning Samskritam through Gita’ Course; Check Steps to Apply

New Delhi: The Sanskrit Club of IIT Roorkee in association with Samskrita Bharati, has launched a new online course titled ‘Gita Samskritam’ or ‘Learning Samskritam through Gita’. The course primarily aims at teaching basic conversational Sanskrit through the medium of Scriptures such as Bhagavad Gita. 

Candidates who wish to be a part of this course can register through the official website of IIT Roorkee. The last date to submit their applications for this course is May 20, 2022. 

The course will be delivered via online mode. The course will consist of two lectures and one practice session each week. It will begin on May 23, 2022. Interested candidates can apply to the course once they match the eligibility criteria, mentioned later in this article.

IIT Roorkee ‘Learning Samskritam through Gita’ Course 2022: Eligibility Criteria

In order to be considered eligible to apply for this course candidates need to maintain the below mentioned eligibility criteria:

• They must have completed ‘Subhasitam Sanskritam’ Level 5 course or ‘Kovida’ or its equivalent course beforehand
• Candidates who have sufficient knowledge of spoken Sanskrit can also apply

Candidates should get hold of the “Gitasopanam” book as it will be used as a reference for the course. 

IIT Roorkee ‘Learning Samskritam through Gita’ Course 2022: Steps to Apply

Candidates must take note of the following steps to apply successfully to the course:

Step 1- Visit the official portal of the Sanskrit Club of IIT Roorkee

Step 2- Register yourself by using your mobile number or email ID

Step 3- Log into the portal by using the credentials

Step 4- Fill in the form and submit it

Step 5- Take a print out of the submitted form for future reference

IIT Roorkee ‘Learning Samskritam through Gita’ Course 2022: Module

This course will be delivered through online mode through Webex. The module is divided into 29 lectures. Each lecture is one and a half hours long and will be delivered twice a week. 

Participants will be provided with a general introduction to Bhagavad Gita through Sanskrit and the 12th chapter will be taught in detail. 

There will also be revision of spoken Sanskrit followed by Sankhyas, Avyas, Upsargas and Pratyayas. Candidates will also learn and practice using Ajanta Halant pronoun words in seven Vibhaktis. Moreover, they will learn and practice using Parasmaipada and Atmanepada dhatus in the five Lakaras.
