IIT Patna: The Indian Institute of Technology had concluded its first placement drive on December 30, 2020, during which half of the final year B.Tech batch students were placed. A student from the final-year breaking the record of previous years is placed at a salary package of INR 52.50 LPA.
The Placement Cell of IIT Patna claimed that a student from the institute was hired by a US-based company at a salary package of INR 52.50 LPA. The officials informed that amidst the current crisis in the job-market, IIT-Patna has managed to bring in remunerative job offers from domestic as well as foreign companies.

The IIT-P training and placement officer Kripa Shankar Singh stated that the student who bagged the highest package has been asked to join the firm’s domestic branch in July.
He said that prior to this another student had received an annual package of INR 47 lakh from DE Shaw, and one student had bagged an annual package of INR 43.50 lakh from Microsoft in early December.

In the first placement drive itself, around 50% of the eligible B.Tech students have been placed. The major group of students has been placed in IT and software development, core, research & development, consulting, finance, and analytics sector.

The officials from the institution stated that they have witnessed a hike in the average pay package offered to the current batch of students even during the slowdown and economic crisis. The second IIT Patna Placement drive for final year B.Tech students will commence in the second week of January.
There are undergraduate students who have secured internships in the leading companies. Kripa Shankar Singh said that six students have received internship offers from Google India and two students have also received international internship offers from a Japan-based firm.
He further said that internship offers are important as they open doors for pre-placement offers and students are exposed to real working fields.
Professor in-charge of the training and placement cell Dr Jose V Parambil stated that even during adverse circumstances, the students at the institution have managed to fetch promising job offers. He added saying that exceptional technical skills and groomed leadership traits are the key reasons for attracting global companies.
