Indiаn Institute оf Teсhnоlоgy (IIT) Раlаkkаd Teсhnоlоgy IHub Fоundаtiоn (IОTIF) hаs lаunсhed the ‘Ооrgа Grаnd Сhаllenge’, а рre-inсubаtiоn activity fоr students аnd entrepreneurs with аn аim tо раve the wаy fоr innоvаtiоn in the nаtiоnаl аnd glоbаl energy sector.
The prize money for designing after shortlisting may be up to Rs 1.5 lakh, up to Rs 10 lakh for prototyping following design assessment, and up to Rs 25 lakh for incubation after prototype evaluation, according to the institute.
"The Oorja Grand Challenge aims to empower innovators in the energy sector to design and implement intelligent collaborative systems.
Indiаn Institute оf Teсhnоlоgy (IIT) Раlаkkаd asserted that students, researchers, and entrepreneurs may establish teams capable of leading fundamental research, product development, industry development, and job creation in the Indian and global energy sectors.
"The goal of this national-wide challenge is to hunt for technology solutions in the energy sector," Dr Albert Sunny, Director, IPTIF, and Project Director, Technology Innovation Hub on Intelligent Collaborative Systems (TIH ICS), said of the competition's projected outcomes. These solutions should be safe to use, cost-effective on a broad scale, and efficient.
Technology solutions for energy storage, generation, conversion, and transportation/distribution are expected, but they are not confined to them." From January 11 to February 24, the foundation will host a two-month Oorja Webinar Series.
"We're also looking at energy generation technologies that are greener (like solar thermal and wind, among others), have a high power/energy density (like nuclear reactors), and are safe to use (ex: better nuclear storage/use, better hydroelectric planning to avoid flooding risks)," added Harilal Bhaskar, IPTIF's General Manage.
Entrepreneurs with a business strategy that can result in technology and manufacturing jobs, as well as innovators with energy-focused company concepts, will be given priority, according to the institution.
