New Delhi: At IIT Mandi, Hitachi India Private Limited (HIL) and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to conduct joint artificial intelligence research between IIT Mandi and HIL Research & Development Division.
As per IIT Mandi, the partnership between the institute and Hitachi India Private Limited will bring collaborative artificial intelligence research opportunities, which will aim to utilize new methodologies to produce solutions that are scalable and usable in a variety of used cases.
Referring to the collaboration, IIT Mandi Director Laxmidhar Behera said, I'm optimistic that our MoU with Hitachi will boost collaboration, entrepreneurship, and innovation. We anticipate lasting and productive cooperation.
According to Kingshuk Banerjee, Director of HIL, "Given their experience and excitement they bring to the table, it is a joy for the Research and Development Centre at Hitachi India to engage in academic collaboration with IIT Mandi. It's a fantastic chance for social innovation and co-creation".
For the signing of the MoU, the Hitachi India Research and Development Division team's visit to IIT Mandi included meetings with faculty members, discussions with various research labs, and the IIT Mandi IHUB and HCI Foundation in order to explore additional potential channels and modes of collaboration.
In addition to this collaboration, the National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC) and IIT Mandi have introduced a nine-month advanced certificate programme and a six-month certificate programme in data science and machine learning.
As per the officials, the newly launched program will commence in the first week of November 2022 for all interested and eligible candidates. IIT Mandi and NSDC will jointly issue a programme certificate upon course completion.
