IIT Madras: VP Naidu Congratulates Institute for Publishing the Science and Technology Magazine “Shaastra”


New Delhi: Vice President Venkaiah Naidu congratulated IIT Madras for publishing its science and technology magazine ‘Shaastra’. The magazine will benefit those who are interested in the latest developments in the field of science and innovation. 

Talking about the recently launched magazine of IIT Madras, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu stated that this initiative has received the support of over 50,000 graduates of the institute. "Shaastra" will serve as a platform where a large audience can find the latest trends. 

With the publication of "Shaastra", the institute aims to offer a single platform to showcase the achievements and developments in science, technology, and innovation in India and abroad. The magazine will be made available for students, industry, academia, and policymakers. 

“I compliment IIT-Madras for bringing out ‘Shaastra’, a science and technology magazine. It is a good initiative as the magazine will not only benefit the scientific community but also those who are keen on knowing about the latest developments in the world of science and innovation,” VP Naidu's official tweet reads. 

Mahesh Panchagnula, Dean (Alumni and Corporate Relations stated that IIT Madras’s “Shastraa” is an offering of the institute to India. The platform will bring together students, policymakers, engineers, scientists, professors, and corporate leaders of India.

In another initiative of IIT Madras, the institute recently conducted a joint study with the Krea University that suggests ways to improve medicine supply deliveries. The study states that medicine supply rates of selected states can be increased to 53% from its average of 30.95%.

The study was conducted by the honoured IIT Madras Faculty Member, Prof. R.P. Sundarraj from the Department of Management Studies, and Prof. Vijaya C. Subramanian from the Department of Operations Management, IFMR-GSB, Krea University. 

While talking about the result of the joint study, Prof. Vijaya C. Subramanian, Krea University, said, "This work is an attempt to bridge the gap between research and policy”.

“The current pandemic has brought into focus the urgent need to address the deficiencies in healthcare delivery. We believe that collaborations such as these between policymakers and researchers can contribute to immense improvements in the current system" he added.

As of now, IIT Madras is working on various initiatives in the education and academic growth of the student and the institute. To make students familiar with the trending domains, the institute has recently launched a Next-Gen Mobile Wireless Networks Program.

The IIT Madras Course 2022 application window for its six-month online course on ‘Next Generаtiоn Mоbile Wireless Netwоrks’ is open till Februаry 8, 2022. Students are advised to submit their registration for the same before the given deadline at pravartak.org.in.
