IIT Kharagpur has invited applications for a 12-week free online course on ‘Machine Learning For Soil And Crop Management’. The students of agricultural engineering, agriculture and environmental science background are eligible to apply.
IIT Kharagpur's 3-month online course will be offered through the National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) platform.
The free course will be conducted by Professor Somsubhra Chakraborty, Assistant Professor (Soil Science) at the Agricultural and Food Engineering Department, Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
The institute has designed the course on Machine Learning for Soil & Crop Management, especially for the undergraduate students who intend to get an insight of machine learning and apply their knowledge of digital soil mapping, deep learning, image processing and portable sensors to develop an integrated and advanced soil and crop management system.

Interested students can enrol for the 12-week course for free. However, the participants can obtain a course certificate upon completion, for which they've to register and write a proctored exam conducted in person at any of the designated exam centres.
The participants are required to pay an exam fee of INR 1,000 and post the exam, the institute will issue an e-certificate. It should be noted that no hard copies of the certificate will be issued.
The IIT Kharagpur will start the online course from January 24 and conclude it on April 15, 2022. Participants requesting for a completion certificate will have to write a proctored examination on April 23, 2022.
