New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over the 54th IIT-Kanpur Convocation Ceremony on Tuesday and launched the blockchain-based degree transfer technology. Students can receive the digitised version of their degrees through this technology.
IIT Kanpur 54th Convocation was organised in the hybrid model. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was also present there as the Guest of Honour.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Speech at the IIT-Kanpur 54th Convocation Ceremony- Highlights:
While launching the blockchain-based degree transfer technology, PM Modi also praised IIT-Kanpur for the development of the said technology and their significant effort in the contribution of the 5G technology. During the ceremony, he presented medals to 2 meritorious students, physically present at the convocation.
Quoting Swami Vivekananda, he discussed the key role of the nation, the mission and its duty and how the institutions play important roles in nurturing the young people to tend to these requirements with their knowledge and skills.
While praising the world’s first floating CNG station at Khidkiya Ghat in Varanasi, developed by IIT-Kanpur incubated by Jetty Technology, the PM also stressed the importance of all the other IITs in making India a self-sufficient country embracing new start-ups.
Referring to the significant role of technology in dealing with issues such as energy crisis, climate problems, higher infrastructure, health and disaster management, AI or artificial intelligence, Prime Minister Narendra Modi talked about National Education Policy, Start-up India, students responsibility towards the development of the “Aatmanirbhar Bharat”.

Following the Prime Minister, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath further talked about the role of the technical institutions in developing a quality education system, how the state government paired up with IIT-Kanpur on various projects and has given permission for the upcoming SMRT project and development of the super-speciality hospital.
Other officials of IIT-Kanpur such as Director Abhay Karandikar and Dr. K. Radhakrishnan, Chairman of the Board of Governors also congratulated the students and advised them to keep on pursuing good education and contributing to the country’s welfare.
After the formal ending of the inaugural session, PM Modi visited the lecture hall to interact with the students present and encouraged them to keep on working hard.
